According to camp officials, several cabins were inundated and others were reportedly washed away entirely. Multiple staff members contacted emergency responders to request urgent air support, as road access had been cut off by rising floodwaters.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that camp directors confirmed children remained unaccounted for as of the latest update.

The flooding is part of a larger weather emergency affecting multiple counties across central Texas. In Hill County, at least six people have been confirmed dead as a result of the widespread flooding, according to emergency management officials.

Search and rescue teams from across the state, including Texas Department of Public Safety air crews, have been deployed to assist in locating missing individuals and transporting camp personnel and children to safety.

Camp Mystic has operated in the area for decades, offering faith-based summer programming for girls ages 7 through 16. The camp is located along the banks of the Guadalupe River, a popular recreation area that can become dangerous during periods of heavy rain and runoff.

Severe weather alerts had been in place across the region prior to the flooding, with meteorologists warning of potential flash flooding due to saturated grounds and ongoing rain.

Rainfall totals in some areas exceeded 10 inches in a 24-hour period, overwhelming rivers and drainage systems throughout the Hill Country region.

Emergency responders have not confirmed the total number of structures affected at Camp Mystic, but officials noted that multiple buildings were either partially submerged or swept downstream.
