6- And 8-Year-Old Kids Help With Life-Saving Measures After Father Gets Stabbed On Side Of Road

A California dad says his 6- and 8-year-old kids helped save his life after a road-rage stabbing on State Route 67 in Lakeside on Oct. 17.

Chris Davison, 38, told ABC 10News the attack happened just after 6 p.m. as a black pickup tailgated and twice forced his Jeep off the highway. After both drivers stopped, the other man “immediately” attacked with a knife, leaving Davison bleeding from multiple stab wounds; his children searched the car for anything to help stop the bleeding — finding a phone charger cord and taking off their sweaters — while his daughter yelled for help until first responders arrived. “She’s in a princess dress, hanging out the car, yelling for somebody to please stop. ‘Help me, help me, my daddy, he’s dying,’” Davison said.

Davison said his son first found a dinosaur sticker before handing a phone-charger cord to a motorcyclist friend who was helping apply pressure, and both children stripped off their sweaters to stanch the bleeding. Doctors later told him the wounds missed major organs. “When asked about his children’s actions … Davison had one word: ‘Heroic.’”

California Highway Patrol investigators say the suspect, identified as Noah Kane, forced Davison’s vehicle onto the SR-67 shoulder north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road and fled after the stabbing. CHP’s Border Division Major Crimes Unit arrested Kane in Poway around 1:45 a.m. the next day, authorities said.

Kane has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder, according to ABC 10News.

Davison was transported to Sharp Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries, per CHP accounts reported by local outlets. A GoFundMe set up by friends says the family faces medical and other costs stemming from the attack.

“I’m forever grateful that I’m here to hug and kiss them and tuck them in every night,” Davison said.
