Political analyst Harry Enten said recent polling shows overwhelming public support for voter ID laws, cutting against claims that the issue is highly partisan or controversial.
Enten pointed to years of polling data indicating that large majorities of Americans favor requiring photo identification to vote, a position he said aligns with comments recently made by Nicki Minaj.
“Photo ID to vote, and the American people are with with Nicki Minaj, because what are we talking about here?” Enten said.
What sensible forward thinking cutting edge leading nation is having a DEBATE on whether or not there should be VOTER ID?!?!!!! Like?!?!? They’re actually fighting NOT to have ppl present ID while voting for your leaders!!!!! Do you get it?!?!!!! Do you get it now?!?!!!

According to Enten, support for voter ID requirements has remained consistently high for years.
He said polling going back to 2018 shows approval never dipping below the mid-70 percent range.

“So take a look here. Favor voter ID to vote. Look, I got all this polling on the screen going back since 2018 you’ll notice on all of it, it’s all north of 75% 76% 76% 76% 81% and then 83% in the last year of Americans agree with Nicki Minaj,” Enten said. “They favor photo ID to be able to vote.”
Enten noted that expectations of a sharp partisan divide are not supported by the data. While Republican support is nearly universal, he said a strong majority of Democrats also back voter ID laws.
“What about by party? What’s the party? Burger?” Enten said.
“Yeah, normally you might expect, hey, there’d be a big divide by party, with Republicans really for it and Democrats really against it. But not really here.”
He cited polling that shows voter ID support across the political spectrum.
“I mean, just take a look here. Favor photo ID to vote. You got 95% of Republicans, pretty much all of them, but even 71% of Democrats favor photo ID to vote,” Enten said.
Enten said the data shows the issue is far less divisive than often portrayed, even among Democratic voters.
“So again, Nicki Minaj posting that on x, and what you see is is that the American people actually it’s not really all that controversial,” he said.
“The American people are with Nicki Minaj, whether they are Republican or even if they are Democrats.”
He added that Democratic support remains substantial when viewed in raw numbers.
“We’re talking about seven in 10 Democrats agreeing with Nicki Minaj that you, in fact, should show a voter voter ID to vote,” Enten said.
“What’s the risk?”
