Kibasi – who worked on Starmer’s leadership campaign and previously headed up the left-wing think tank – had been brought into No10 to work with Morgan McSweeney on “a specific strategy project for several months.” This was after his ascension to DHSC in February to work on NHS policy…
Bloomberg reports this morning that Kibasi is leaving the role after such a short stint and said “he was returning to NHS England” and “his tenure as director of the IPPR had been subject to unfair allegations, which he said he had reported to police.” It is also reported that “several people across government raised concerns about his appointment”…
The paper reports that less than one year into his time as director of the IPPR a “group representing women in the think tank” presented a report which referred to Kibasi’s
- “Confrontational, often aggressive communication style.”
- Him being “physically angry.”
- “Gender issues.”
- “The Director’s aggressive and dismissive tone with women.”
Lawyers for Kibasi responded that a 2017 investigation found his “communication style was an area for improvement, but it was categorically found that there were no grounds for concern about our client’s conduct.” Not a happy departure from shaken up Downing Street…
