The suspect who shot conservative commentator Charlie Kirk dead at Utah Valley University on Wednesday is not yet in custody, according to multiple reports citing a university statement.
Kirk was hit in the neck while taking questions from students during a Q&A session in Orem, Utah, witnesses told Deseret News. Videos posted on social media showed a crowd of dozens of attendees running for safety after the shooting occurred. President Donald Trump later announced his death on Truth Social.
Federal agents are at the scene of the shooting, Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X.
