Aaron Boone Speaks On ‘Awesome Night’ After Yankees Meet With Trump On 9/11

An awesome night, indeed.

Thursday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers was the first time that a sitting president was in attendance at an MLB contest since 2019.

Being the greatest sports president that this land has ever seen, it’s obviously not the first sporting event that President Donald Trump has been to since the start of his second term, but it was certainly a little more special considering the circumstances.

It was the 24th anniversary of the horrific Sept. 11 attacks. (RELATED: YES Network Disrespects President Trump During 9/11 Broadcast)

About a 34-minute drive from Ground Zero, it was mainly a positive ovation for President Trump from over 40,000 fans at Yankee Stadium. His support was so great that several “USA” chants broke out throughout the game.

“It was an awesome night. Meaningful,” said Yankees manager Aaron Boone to the media following the contest. “Captain [Aaron Judge] just spoke about it, just having us out there kind of all lined up together, first for the moment of silence, then back out there for the anthem, and just that buzz that New York City can create, you definitely felt it tonight. Obviously, the president being here, just an added layer. September baseball against a really good club. A special night to be a part of, and hopefully none of us took it for granted.”
