Secret Service employee placed on leave after vile Charlie Kirk post

A Secret Service employee who trash-talked deceased Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has been placed on leave and is now facing termination from his job.

The employee, Anthony Pough, shared a Facebook post after Kirk’s assassination on Wednesday, falsely accusing the die-hard Christian of having “spewed hate and racism.”

“If you are Mourning this guy .. delete me,” Pough wrote. “He spewed hate and racism on his show. Especially when we should be mourning the innocent children killed in Colorado.”

“At the end of the day, you answer to GOD and speak things into existence. You can only circumvent karma, doesn’t leave,” he added.

A Secret Service agent posted that Charlie Kirk got what he deserved.

Agents are sworn to protect their designated individuals, regardless of party.

After Pough’s post went viral, it caught the attention of Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn, who subsequently penned a letter to Secret Service Director Sean Curran demanding he be fired.

“[Y]our employee celebrated and attempted to justify a political assassination,” she wrote. “This conduct is inexcusable, and I urge you in the strongest possible terms to immediately terminate his employment.”

But it was already too late — although in a good way.

“By the time Blackburn had sent the letter, Curran had already placed Pough on administrative leave, a knowledgeable Secret Service source  [said],” according to RealClearPolitics (RCP).

RCP also obtained confirmation that the Secret Service intends to fire Pough, though it’s not clear when exactly this will happen.

Pough’s post reportedly also attracted the attention of other agents.

“If that’s all it takes to set you off, that’s dangerous to have around,” one source wrote about his angry post. “I’m mostly concerned about the morals of a person sworn to protect the rights of others to engage in politics and exercise free speech, celebrating the death of someone exercising those same rights.”

Meanwhile, War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on X later Thursday that he’s “tracking” all examples of Department of War (DOW) employees celebrating or mocking Kirk’s assassination.

Hegseth made the announcement after Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell warned in a tweet that the department “has zero tolerance” for employees celebrating the death of another American.

“It is unacceptable for military personnel and Department of War civilians to celebrate or mock the assassination of a fellow American,” he wrote. “The Department of War has zero tolerance for it.”

Pough, for his part, appears to be a leftist zealot and fierce defender of racist diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

“DEI stops NEPOTISM,” he reportedly wrote on Facebook earlier this year in response to President Donald Trump banning DEI from the government. “That’s the problem they have, [sic] That’s the root issue.”

According to RCP, Pough also threw a fit after Trump fired Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., who’d refused to resign as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff after the president was inaugurated.

“So you fired him because you don’t know if he was a ‘DEI’ hire,” Pough whined. “You assumed because he is BLACK he had to be. He is the chairman of the JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF [sic] and obviously you can only attain such a high class position based on MERIT. This is RACISM.”

RCP notes that Pough was “a relatively new agent” who, “having graduated from training in 2022, is part of the agency’s Presidential Protective Division but is not on a detail regularly charged with protecting Trump.”

That’s good to know, though RCP also warns that “all agents, at times, could be called off their official duties to contribute to presidential coverage,” including Pough (prior to him being suspended, that is).
