If there was any reason left to trust the liberal media in America, the terrorizing death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk put that logic to rest.
The New York Times, a leading suspect when it comes to propagating the left’s narrative, essentially called Kirk an antisemite after he was assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University, only to later offer a correction seen by few.
The Times reported that Kirk was “repeatedly accused of antisemitism, homophobia and racism,” with the left-of-center newspaper noting that the charismatic founder of the student activist group Turning Point USA “blamed Jewish communities for fomenting hatred against white people”.
After the article was published, the Times clarified that Kirk was actually quoting a social media post and proceeded to critique it.
The New York Times told millions of readers that Charlie Kirk was anti-semitic.
And then, quietly, they offered this correction that only a handful of readers see – that the opposite was true. pic.twitter.com/TOfSZp8fMx

“An earlier version of this article described incorrectly an antisemitic statement that Charlie Kirk had made on an episode of his podcast. He was quoting a statement from a post on social media and went on to critique it. It was not his own statement,” the correction said.
Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway put it all into proper perspective when she posted on X: “In their disgusting hate obituary, they smeared Kirk as being a liar unencumbered by facts. As I told my class, that’s an apt description not of Kirk, but the criminally mendacious @nyTimes.”

Riley Gaines, a conservative political activist and former collegiate swimmer who publicly opposes the participation of trans women (see biological men) in women’s sports, took it even further to suggest that journalism like this is what leads to people like Charlie Kirk being murdered.
“They lie, let their audience read it and believe it, then issue a half-hearted hidden correction at the end of the story hours (or even days) later. This is exactly how people like Charlie Kirk end up murdered. Disrespectfully, screw you @nytimes.”

As for the allegation, the Republican Jewish Coalition said in a statement: “Charlie has been a shining light in these troubled times for the American Jewish community, and we are deeply saddened at his passing. All people of good will must condemn this horrific murder and demand justice for Charlie.”
Morton Klein, CEO of the Zionist Organization of America, said in a statement that Kirk had recently accepted an invitation to speak at the group’s upcoming national gala.
“Charlie Kirk was a great man, a personal friend and an ally who loved Israel and the Jewish people,” he said. “I had the pleasure of walking all over Jerusalem with him and sitting for an incredible interview with him on his radio show where for over an hour, Charlie asked great questions to better understand the Arab-Islamist war against Israel, the Jewish people and the West.”
Perhaps, as many suggest, you can’t hate the liberal media enough these days — here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
The initial smear gets spread, but few notice the retraction. This is by design.

One of the left’s most odious talents is use of the passive voice to manipulate the truth. He did not “die of a gunshot wound”, NYT. He was brutally assassinated in front of of his family. Is this what they teach in journalism school?

It’s impossible to have a shred of human decency and read the poison spewed by the NYT.

See below. The article goes out to millions, the correction is seen by hundreds. This is what legacy media has done for decades to people like Charlie. https://t.co/ppN1GNdPMJ

This gives chills. It speaks to the desire of mainstream media to destroy the right. I wrote about this smearing of character years ago as their primary objective.
It not only supersedes everything else, including seeking truth. It destroys and attempts to rewrite or bury… https://t.co/dxQURiEaze
