Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s executive producer Andrew Kolvet appeared on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” Friday to share the story behind the cross necklace that Kirk’s wife Erika was seen holding.
An emotional image of Erika Kirk circulated online Friday showing her holding up a cross necklace to onlookers while riding in the back of a car. Displaying the image, Fox’s Laura Ingraham asked Kolvet to share the story behind the necklace.
“That was actually a necklace that Erika gave Charlie when they were dating. And she said, ‘You’re a Christian. ‘Why don’t you wear a cross?’ And he said, ‘I don’t know. I’m not a jewelry guy.’ And something happened where he was pressed, and he felt the weight of the world on him. And he put that cross on,” Kolvet said.
“He never took it off again until he was assassinated. And the people caring for him ripped it off as they tried to save his life. And Erika has it on her [at] all times now,” Kolvet added.

Kirk, who spoke regularly at college campuses to debate students on their political beliefs, stopped in Utah Wednesday with videos online showing the campus packed with attendees. In pictures and videos from the event, Kirk interacted with students and attendees, throwing hats into the crowd as people cheered.
About 20 minutes into speaking with students, a shot rang out through the crowd, hitting Kirk. Security rushed the TPUSA founder to the hospital, where he was initially reported to be in stable condition but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
On Thursday, Kirk’s casket was flown to Phoenix aboard Air Force Two, accompanied by his family, friends, Vice President JD Vance and the second lady. In videos of the boarding, Erika Kirk stood alongside the second lady as Vance helped carry the TPUSA founder’s casket.
Vigils have been held across the country, with Erika scheduled to address supporters Friday evening.
