Dodgers’ Blake Treinen Honors Charlie Kirk With Personalized Hat

Blake Treinen, a relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, honored Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk while on the mound Friday night. Taking on the San Francisco Giants, Treinen wore a hat that had Kirk’s name written on it with a cross on both sides.

Speaking out about his Christian faith in the past, Treinen came in for Los Angeles during the ninth inning, and when he did so, fans took notice that he had something written on his hat. (RELATED: Former NFL Player Chris Kluwe Seemingly Mocks Charlie Kirk Following Assassination)

He had an inscription that read, “Charlie Kirk,” with a cross featured beside it.

The 31-year-old Kirk was politically assassinated Wednesday while speaking at a Utah Valley University campus event. A husband and father of two, Kirk was hit by a bullet in the neck and later was pronounced dead. Utah resident Tyler Robinson, 22, was placed under arrest for being the alleged assassin.

Treinen honoring Kirk happened just days following the pitcher speaking about how Christianity plays a major role in his career.

“He’s my everything. I mean, I wouldn’t be here without my relationship with Jesus,” said Treinen in a CBN Sports interview. “When I’m on the mound, that’s my form of worship. I draw a cross and point up so that people know who I play for.”
