Several Teams Honor Charlie Kirk On NFL Sunday

Several NFL teams who were home during Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. schedule window honored conservative activist Charlie Kirk with pregame tributes after his political assassination. Reactions from fans were majority positive.

Teams that held moments of silence for Kirk were the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets.

Every team placed Kirk‘s picture on video boards and requested their fans to stand and honor the Turning Point USA founder after the shooting at Utah Valley University. (RELATED: Dodgers’ Blake Treinen Honors Charlie Kirk With Personalized Hat)

The first tribute from the National Football League took place at the “Thursday Night Football” contest between the Washington Commanders and Green Bay Packers, but the league let the remaining 13 home teams make their own decision on whether or not they wanted to honor Kirk.

The teams that honored Kirk before Sunday’s action either gave him a tribute or featured him in a remembrance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. However, it should be noted that multiple teams declined to give Kirk a mention.

The teams who chose not to honor Kirk with a tribute were the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals. However, the Steelers did put their flag at half-staff, per OutKick.

In the 4:00 p.m. window, the Arizona Cardinals held a moment of silence for Kirk prior to their contest taking on the Carolina Panthers, while the Kansas City Chiefs held their own moment of silence before squaring off against the Philadelphia Eagles.
