Vandal tears down Trump flag before shooting at property owner

Days before Charlie Kirk was assassinated, a North Carolina man captured footage of alleged political violence involving a “Trump 2024” banner and shots fired.

While talking heads sought to portray the political assassination of the Turning Point USA founder as an isolated incident, the track record from the left repeatedly demonstrates that anyone who voices similar viewpoints is treated as though they are an existential threat.

So it was that amid the latest round of faux sentiments about turning down the temperature, a video began to circulate of a vandal tearing down a banner depicting support for President Donald Trump before allegedly shooting at the property owner.

“He walked up to the sign. When he stood up at the sign, I thought, ‘I can’t believe this.’ I watched him until he reached up and pulled the sign down. It’s just a shock,” Mark Thomas, owner of Paddle Inn Rafting Company, told Fox Carolina about the September 6 incident in Swain County, North Carolina.

After witnessing the man pull over, step out of his vehicle, tear down the sign, and then head back across the street, Thomas explained that he saw fit to fire two shots from his rifle into the air, “I let him know that somebody’s watching him and didn’t appreciate it.”

It was at that point that the video showed the suspect extend his hand out of the sunroof of his vehicle, brandishing a firearm before firing in the direction of Thomas. “Society in general is really, really disappointing. I know what this country could be. I know how we all could be together.”

On Facebook, the Swain County Sheriff’s Office indicated that a deputy responded to the area after the incident, but “did not see anything suspicious or the vehicle in question at that time.” Subsequently, investigators sought assistance from the public in identifying the owner of the vehicle and providing any as-yet unknown information about the incident.

“See something, say something, do something. Become part of a respectable community and just make it known that we will not stand for this stuff,” Thomas offered as a takeaway message following the suspected act of political violence.

Meanwhile, with the backdrop of the assassination of Kirk, Rep. Chuck Edwards (R) spoke with Fox Carolina and suggested, “We’re at a point right now where we’ve seen so much political rhetoric from so many different folks — both sides of the aisle, quite frankly — that have ignited fears and anger and emotion inside of the folks, and in many cases caused them to do things that they may not have done otherwise.”

“I believe that we all need to cool our jets. We need to figure out how to have open dialogue about our differences,” he added while reactions on social media tore into the myth of the “tolerant” left.
