The “wokest” district attorney in America has launched a new “soft-on-crime” policy that critics say is destined to make Minneapolis an even more dangerous s-hole.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announced this week that her office will no longer prosecute felony cases that emerge from low-level traffic cops, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune.

Suppose an officer pulls someone over for a broken tailpipe but discovers that they have drugs, a gun, or worse on them. Moriarty’s office will no longer prosecute the driver for the drugs or guns.
Why would Moriarty, a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, do such a thing? Because of alleged “racism,” of course.
“[L]aw enforcement in the state’s most populous county has long disproportionately targeted minorities for violations like broken tail lights or improper turns,” the Star Tribune notes.
But God forbid minorities — or the so-called “marginalized,” according to some — not be allowed to brazenly break the law.
“No one should lose their life as a result of a broken tail light or because they have an item dangling from their rearview mirror,” Moriarty said in a statement, according to local station KSTP. “Nor should they be put through the inconvenience, humiliation, and trauma that results from being searched as a result of a pretext stop.”
A “pretext stop” is one where the cops use a minor infraction to pull someone over and search their vehicle for drugs, guns, etc.
It’s a very useful tool that’s led to the arrest and conviction of numerous bad people, including D.C. sniper John Allen Muhammad, Olympic Park bomber Eric Rudolph, and fugitive Juan Carlos Munoz, among others.

But it gets worse.
Moriarty also announced that her office most likely won’t be pursuing charges in cases where a suspect agrees to a “consent search” (a search without a warrant) and that search turns up drugs, guns, etc.
“Consent searches allow officers to bypass all of the usual investigative steps necessary to establish probable cause,” Moriarty said. “Many people don’t feel that they can refuse a consent search because of the power differential or the concern or fear of what might happen if they say no.”
And so, because of supposed “fear,” potential criminals should be let off the hook!?
Not surprisingly, Moriarty’s far-left policies have provoked a fierce reaction from the state’s largest police union:

“The city of Minneapolis is under siege with violent crime — and this is what County Attorney Moriarty chooses to prioritize!?” Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association general counsel Imran Ali said.
“Her new policy is a gift to criminals and a slap in the face to law-abiding Minnesotans. Guns, drugs, and fugitives discovered during traffic stops will now walk free, while officers are left powerless to act. This reckless decision doesn’t just weaken law enforcement — it puts every family in greater danger,” he added.
Yet Moriarty only doubled down.
“We’re not talking about dangerous driving behavior,” she told the Star Tribune. “When we’re talking about limited resources with law enforcement, you would rather have them focus on dangerous driving rather than these kinds of things.”
You know, those “kinds of things” like people transporting drugs, smuggling illegal aliens, or killing someone.
According to the Star Tribune, her new policy will apply to an abundance of infractions, including “[f]ailure to display tabs or driving with expired tabs; failure to illuminate a license plate or a partially obscured license plate; broken headlights, brake lights or taillights; a missing side mirror or rearview mirror; items dangling from the rearview mirror; broken windshield wipers; failure to signal a turn or lane change while otherwise driving safely; cracked windshield; and excessive window tint.”
However, Moriarty has dubiously alleged she’d be willing to make exceptions in cases where a subsequent search of the suspect’s car turns up evidence that presents a threat to public safety.
