Kamala Memoir Reveals Staff Backlash Over The View Response: ‘Hand Grenade’ [WATCH]

Former Vice President Kamala Harris revealed in her upcoming book that she did not realize her answer to a question on ABC’s The View ahead of the 2024 presidential election would prove damaging to her campaign, as reported by Fox News.

According to an Associated Press report, Harris wrote that her response during the televised interview effectively handed “a gift to the Trump campaign.” The book, titled 107 Days, is scheduled for release on Tuesday and details her short-lived presidential run last year.

When asked during the program if she would have done anything differently than President Joe Biden, Harris replied that nothing “comes to mind” and emphasized that she had been part of “most of the decisions that have had impact.”

“I had no idea I’d just pulled the pin on a hand grenade,” Harris wrote. She added that her staff was “besides themselves” over the response, believing it tied her too closely to Biden and limited her ability to define her own candidacy.

Harris explained in the memoir that she avoided criticizing Biden because she did not want to revisit disagreements or appear disloyal, but she underestimated how much her association with the former president weighed down her campaign.

President Donald Trump went on to defeat Harris in the 2024 election, winning both the Electoral College and the popular vote.

Harris recounted her emotions on election night, writing, “I could barely breathe,” and recalling that she asked repeatedly, “My God, my God, what will happen to our country?”

The Associated Press reported that Harris also discussed the aftermath of her defeat and her subsequent decision not to seek the governorship of California in 2026.

“In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor,” Harris wrote in a July statement. “But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election.”

Harris’s book provides her perspective on the challenges of the 2024 campaign, her attempt to balance loyalty to Biden with her own political ambitions, and the missteps that contributed to her loss.
