A 64-year-old Sacramento man is behind bars on three felony charges following a shooting at a local ABC news station Friday afternoon.
Police arrested Anibal Hernandezsantana after gunfire struck ABC10’s Sacramento office around 1:30 p.m. while employees worked inside the building. The suspect faces assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building and negligent discharge of a firearm, according to Sacramento County Jail records, Fox News reported.
No one was injured in the attack, though employees were present in the building when bullets shattered at least three windows, the outlet reported. A local reporter posted video evidence of the damage on X, showing multiple bullet holes in the station’s glass.
Sacramento police said Hernandezsantana fired from a vehicle before speeding away from the scene. Officers quickly identified the suspect’s car, which led to his arrest. The FBI is assisting local police with the investigation, according to the outlet. (RELATED: ‘Where’s The Joke?’: Scott Jennings Explains How Jimmy Kimmel Suspension Exposes Deeper Problems In Media)

Authorities have not revealed why Hernandezsantana targeted the television station. “The motive remains under investigation,” the Sacramento Police Department stated.
The shooting occurred one day after approximately 15 protesters gathered outside the building. The group was protesting Disney-owned ABC’s decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel off-air for comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk. ABC10 is owned by Tegna, not Disney, though it carries ABC network programming.
Hernandezsantana is being held on $200,000 bail and will appear in court Tuesday. No mugshot was available at press time, the outlet reported.
San Francisco’s ABC7 station has increased police patrols around its building as a precaution following the Sacramento incident.
