Trump Says Crockett Crossed ‘The Line’ With Latest ICE Remarks

President Donald Trump said at a press conference Thursday that Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett had “gone over the line” with her comments about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

During a September appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Crockett likened ICE to “slave patrols,” calling the agency a “rogue policing force.” Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese asked Trump if he believed there should be any “consequences for members of Congress who make these types of comparisons.” (RELATED: Gangbanger, Drug Trafficker Among ICE Detainees Dems Allegedly Demanded Be Released)

“I think she’s gone over the line, and I think a lot of the people [have]. Look, the Democrats have become radical left lunatics. They have policies that nobody’s going to buy,” Trump said. “I see what’s going on in New York. We’re going to have perhaps a communist mayor because it’s split up. If the people would get together and have one candidate, they’d have, I think, a pretty good chance. But it looks like maybe they’re not going to do that. But we’re going to end up with a communist mayor. It’s not even believable, my beautiful New York.”

“When I left New York to become president, it was a great place. But it was the beginning of bad things because we had de Blasio [who] had just started as mayor. I said, ‘This guy’s a bad, this guy’s a real nutjob,’” Trump added. “But that was the beginning, and now we’re going to go a step further. Now we’re going with a communist. Can I be honest? I think it’s the greatest thing to ever happen to the Republican Party. I really do. I think if a communist takes over New York City, I think that’s a gift to the Republican Party. It’s sad for New York, but it’s a gift. New York will recover because sometimes you need a shock like that to straighten you out. But politically it’s probably a very good thing.”

Trump administration officials have repeatedly called out Democrats’ continuous rhetoric against ICE, warning about the danger it could cause agents. In a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the “dangerous rhetoric is contributing to ICE law enforcement officers facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them as they carry out enforcement operations.”

In addition to Crockett’s statements, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz labeled ICE a “modern-day Gestapo” during a commencement address at the University of Minnesota law school in May. Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez has also long pushed back against the Trump administration’s efforts to crack down on deportations. She created a video in January advising illegal migrants how to handle encounters with ICE officers at home or at work.

On Wednesday, a shooter opened fire on an ICE facility in Dallas where the agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations conducts arrests and deportations. Officials identified 29-year-old Joshua Jahn as the suspect who killed at least two detainees before turning the gun on himself. On X, FBI Director Kash Patel posted photos of shell casings from the attack, showing one engraved with the phrase “Anti-ICE.”

The attack against the facility comes after the same Texas location had been targeted with a bomb threat in August, while other ICE facilities in the state were hit with shootings in July.

ICE agents have also faced repeated threats in California, with DHS pressing charges against a rioter who threatened to stab an officer and “go after” his family while agents were conducting an operation in San Francisco.
