Proudly Christian Oklahoma School Superintendent Ryan Walters has stepped down from his role to pursue a war against teachers’ unions.
Walters, who became an enemy to the left for purchasing a Bible for every school in his state, resigned Wednesday to join and lead the Teacher Freedom Alliance, according to NBC News.
The Teacher Freedom Alliance was launched by the Freedom Foundation in March as “a non-union alternative for educators.” It’s basically a non-political union versus a traditionally left-wing one.
And the primary goal of the Alliance is, it would appear, to once and for all crush the power of the traditionally left-wing unions.
“We’re going to destroy the teachers unions and take back our students,” Walters explained in an X post published this Thursday.

“Public employees are leaving their unions in record numbers, frustrated by the funding of radical agendas driven by union bosses,” Freedom Foundation CEO Aaron Withe said back in March.
“The Teacher Freedom Alliance offers an alternative for pro-America educators who seek to restore traditional values in the classroom and provide students with the high-quality education they deserve—free from political influence and union control,” he added.
In a statement published to X on Wednesday, the Alliance vowed that, under Walters’ leadership, it “will take the fight straight to the unions and … not stop.”
“Together, we will build a national movement that is centered on freedom and common sense, not on bullying and intimidation,” the statement continued.

Walters has been outspoken about the damage traditionally left-wing teachers’ unions have been doing to the country.
“We have seen the teachers unions use money and power to corrupt our schools, to undermine our schools,” he reportedly told Fox News on Wednesday. “We are one of the biggest grassroots organizations in the country. We will build an army of teachers to defeat the teachers union once and for all.”
The bad news is that Walters’ departure from his role as superintendent is making all the wrong people happy, including notorious American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten.
“[T]oday is a good day for Oklahoma’s kids,” she reportedly said in a statement. “Any educator worth their salt understands it’s impossible to educate students if you don’t support teachers. Walters didn’t do that in Oklahoma, and now, at a time we need to bring the country together, he’s trying to export his divisive rhetoric nationally.”
Walters’s work as superintendent has been instrumental.
“As the state’s top education official, Walters generated controversy for ordering schools to include the Bible in the curriculum and pushing to require that families prove their U.S. citizenship in order to enroll their children in public schools,” NBC News notes.
And just days ago, he announced a bombshell partnership with Turning Point USA. The goal reportedly is to establish a Turning Point USA chapter in every high school in his state.

And of course, he added the Bible to his state curriculum.
“Effective immediately, all Oklahoma schools are required to incorporate the Bible, which includes the Ten Commandments, as an instructional support into the curriculum across specified grade levels, e.g. grades 5 through 12,” he said in June of 2024.
“The Bible is an indispensable historical and cultural touchstone. Without basic knowledge of it, Oklahoma students are unable to properly contextualize the foundation of our nation which is why Oklahoma educational standards provide for its instruction,” he added.
