It’s always something with this guy!
During the opening action Friday of the 2025 Ryder Cup, Rory McIlroy was seen throwing a middle finger at American fans, doing so after his partner Shane Lowry hit an 11th hole-birdie in a four ball match against the U.S.’s Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
There’s where the in-tournament tension between McIlroy and American fans started. If you missed my blog on it, you can check it out here. (RELATED: All Hell Breaks Loose At Ryder Cup As Players Shout At Each Other, Fans Brawl In Grandstand)
When we got to Saturday morning, and let’s fast forward to the par-4 16th hole, McIlroy was standing over an approach shot from 149 yards out, doing so on the rough. At that point, both he and Tommy Fleetwood had a 2-up advantage over America’s Harris English and Collin Morikawa with three left to play.
McIlroy was getting it from crazed New Yorkers all morning, and while he was doing his pre-shot routine, the fans started making all different kinds of noises. Yeah, that ended up pissing McIlroy off.
Proving even more that he’s golf’s biggest prick, McIlroy turns around and shouts at them to “shut the f*ck up,” not giving a single damn that a camera was right on him. And unlike the middle finger incident, this was clear as day.

But like I said in my last blog about McIlroy (linked above), I can’t say too much about him because, well, he’s kicking our ass.

I’d say I’m extraordinarily disappointed in the Americans, but … honestly, I can’t even find the words.
