Asked on Times Radio if he’d rule out that measure, Streeting said:
“Yeah, that’s right. I don’t know what the genesis of the story was, but that’s not something the government’s looking to do. No, the government won’t be doing it.”
Yesterday Reeves refused to rule out VAT increases, and Starmer’s right-hand man Darren Jones stated that the manifesto tax promises stand “today” as no decisions have been made yet, adding that he “can’t rule anything in or out”. Streeting has just blown up that line…
