INSIDER: It’s the leadership, stupid

Whether or not there is a prolonged shutdown of the federal government, the Democrats have already shot themselves in the foot out of desperation to resist President Donald J. Trump, who overwhelmingly kicked their asses in last year’s election.

In a comedy of unforced errors that could be titled The Misadventures of Shutdown Chuck and the Frito Bandito, the top two congressional Democrats have inadvertently proven that leadership matters, and in their case, there is none.

Rather than wisely pick their battles, the two New Yorkers have allowed the entire country to be held hostage by the most extreme elements of their party, especially Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who is lusting after Schumer’s Senate seat.

Schumer could have simply accepted the “clean” continuing resolution already passed by the House, allowing Democrats to drag out the process until later this year, but instead he has parked a burning bag of dogsh*t on their own front steps and even if they somehow manage to stomp on it to put it out, there is no way that they are going to emerge from his week unsoiled.

After the president graciously agreed to talk to the two political insurrectionists on Monday, only to have them insult him by insisting on their ridiculous list of demands, the duo may now realize that they’ve badly overplayed their hand and grossly overestimated their leverage and the reaction to a classic bit of Trump trolling with a video depicting Jeffries with a bandito mustache and a sombrero only further illustrates that the Democratic Party is an unruly circus led by incompetent clowns.

Instead of simply shrugging off the irreverent AI video as a joke or just ignoring it, the thin-skinned Jeffries blew his stack, running crying to reporters instead of doing his job by working to keep the government open.

“Mr. President, the next time you have something to say about me, don’t cop out through a racist and fake AI video,” he told reporters, whining about perceived racism because his feelings were hurt. “When I’m back in the Oval Office, say it to my face.”

Now that’s leadership! Just allowing his unruly menagerie to make light of the rapidly ticking clock by posting a ridiculous selfie with him that only further shows that he is not a serious person resulted in him getting mocked by House Republicans.

Schumer’s also fixated on the epic Trump video.

And with only hours from the doors being closed, Schumer is sticking to the talking point, harping about healthcare while omitting that what the party is really concerned about is making sure that their illegal aliens are given the medical care that is unaffordable for actual Americans. Democrats are going to screw the entire country to protect their precious foreign voters.

Shutdown Chuck conveniently also leaves out the part that the House has already done its part, and all that he needs to do is cut loose seven or eight members of his caucus to send it to Trump’s desk and prevent it. Instead, he’s going to put thousands of his own voters out of work and count on the media to blame it all on Trump.

But Schumer isn’t living in 2020 – or even 2022 – because more and more Americans have correctly identified the Democrat shills in the media as disinformation artists and are getting their news from other sources.

Americans who don’t watch CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC or consume the New York Times aren’t a part of what conservative pundit Erick Erickson refers to as the “self-generated feedback loop,” which he explains in a lengthy post to X.

“In the Democrat bubble, leftwing orthodoxy goes unchallenged. It is amplified by the late-night comics on TV and the progressive TikTok and podcast squad,” he wrote. “Everybody else realizes the Democrats have gone hard left and are nuts. So they never see coming things like Trump winning more votes than Harris in 2024 or Trump, though unpopular, being more popular than the Democrats.”

“The mainstream media outlets lose trust. The Democrats lost trust. And because they’re all in the same bubble, their theory is misinformation and disinformation, and the need to control speech without any recognition that they, themselves, have isolated and alienated themselves from the rest of the nation,” Erickson said, and thusly, the Democrats are going to have a hard time selling their hogwash this time, especially once the impact begins to be felt by ordinary Americans.

Most of all, sound leadership should set aside petty grievances in the best interests of the American people. Sadly, gone are the days when Tip O’Neill could enjoy an after-hours cocktail with Ronald Reagan. O’Neill, a Massachusetts liberal Democrat, would have long ago been declared a Nazi or fascist and run out of his own party as it exists today.

It’s hard to argue that the Democrats currently have the WORST leadership in their existence with boobs like Schumer and Jeffries deliberately steering the ship into the rocks.
