Disney makes major change in ticket prices for amusement parks

The Walt Disney Company is hiking ticket prices again at its theme parks, moving another step away from its namesake’s dream of an affordable and accessible place for families.

Amid ongoing criticism of the company for appearing to abandon Walt Disney’s founding values and a staggering climb in the cost of vacationing at the most magical place on earth, ticket prices were again increased at the two U.S. locations.

Visitors to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California, will see the increase that went into effect on Wednesday, “in the midst of some major expansions on both coasts, introducing new rides and experiences, and against a backdrop of increasing operational costs,” according to MickeyVisit.com.

“The longest and most expensive Disneyland ticket type, the five-day park hopper ticket, increased in price by $39 and is now $655. Over the past decade, the five-day park hopper ticket has increased by 107.94%,” the outlet reported on the California price increases.

The peak one-day ticket price in Florida went up $10, pushing the cost up over the $200 range per person.

“Some November and December 2026 1-Day 1 Park Per Day ticket prices have gone up from $199, which is the current peak pricing, to $209. This is the first time that this ticket type has broken the $200 mark at Walt Disney World, though it already had at Disneyland,” MickeyVisit.com reported.

“Disney World has also increased annual pass pricing between $20-$80 for all passes,” the outlet added. “Standard parking at Disney World has increased $5 from $30 to $35, and preferred parking prices have also gone up $5 from the current price points. Some food and beverage and merchandise items, as well as Lightning Lane, have increased as well.”

The largest price hikes are in California, where Tier 6 one-day tickets have seen a 126% jump over the past decade, with the latest $18 increase making an adult ticket for the highest-demand days $224.

“Disney Parks offer a full day of experiences each day, with ticket, hotel, and dining options designed to suit a wide range of needs and budgets for all who visit,” Disney officials told the outlet. “Our commitment to creating magical experiences for everyone remains at the heart of what we do — and that will never change.”

Earlier this year,  the Wall Street Journal reported that Disney insiders expressed concerns that the company has become “addicted to price hikes” and  “has reached the limits of what middle-class Americans can afford.”

Many social media users agree, especially after the latest announced price increases.
