CNN host defends Big Tish against mortgage fraud allegations: Something ‘everyone’ deals with

As expected, the liberal media launched into full protection mode after New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted Thursday for mortgage fraud, wasting no time in claiming that President Donald Trump was using the Justice Department to seek retribution against his political enemies.

In effect, the corrupt media is accusing Trump of doing what was done to him as the DOJ seeks accountability for those who used their offices to wage lawfare against the president.

But count on CNN to take things to the next level, as seen when host Kasie Hunt defended Big Tish by claiming that mortgage fraud was “something that everyone in America” does if they own a home.

“We’re still getting the details, but if it’s related to this mortgage issue, I mean this is something that everyone in America, or many people at least, if you’re lucky enough to be able to buy a house in America, you deal with this, right? The federal government doesn’t go after all of these people for doing this,” Hunt said on air.

“Does that play a role here? I mean, how often has there been a federal indictment for a bank fraud type of situation like the one we see here?” she then asked.

James won a civil penalty of $450 million against Trump after accusing him of inflating his worth to defraud lenders, never mind that there were no victims here — an appeals court would later toss the massive penalty.

Federal housing regulator Bill Pulte referred James to the DOJ after saying she “falsified records” to get more favorable loan terms on a Virginia property.

“Based on media reports, Ms. Letitia James has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms,” he said. “This has potentially included 1) falsifying residence status for a Norfolk, Virginia-based home in order to secure a lower mortgage rate and 2) misrepresenting property descriptions to meet stringent requirements for government backed loans and government assistance.”

James, who campaigned for office on the vow that she would get Trump, echoed media talking points in dismissing the charges as “political retribution.”

“These charges are baseless, and the president’s own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution at any cost. The president’s actions are a grave violation of our Constitutional order and have drawn sharp criticism from members of both parties,” she said in a statement.

Interestingly, a 2024 X post from James is being refreshed: “When powerful people cheat to get better loans, it comes at the expense of hardworking people. Everyday Americans cannot lie to a bank to get a mortgage, and if they did, our government would throw the book at them. There simply cannot be different rules for different people.:

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
