Trump says he will posthumously award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom

President Donald Trump hasn’t forgotten about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Following his trip to Israel and Egypt, which is related to the agreement he helped negotiate to bring peace to Gaza and secure the release of hostages, the president will be rushing back to the United States for a ceremony honoring Kirk.

Watch:

“I’m coming back, I believe it’s Tuesday night, for Charlie Kirk, a friend of mine, a friend of all of ours, a friend of a lot of the people right here,” Trump said, gesturing to the gathered reporters. “We’re giving him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which the highest honor you get outside of the Congressional Medal of Honor. One’s military, one’s civilian. But it’s the greatest honor, and Erika, his beautiful wife, is gonna be here. A lot of people are going to be here.”

The ceremony will take place on October 14, which would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday. The young activist was assassinated on September 10 at an event in Utah, sparking national outrage and mourning.
