Conservative influencer facing death threats thanks Bondi for ‘saving my family’; wife calls out Newsom

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrest of a man who made “copycat” death threats against conservative influencer Benny Johnson and his family amid a rising tide of left-wing political violence that is being encouraged by Democrats and the media.

In remarks at a Friday news conference in Tampa, Florida, where Johnson lives, the nation’s top law enforcement official was joined by the commentator and his wife, Kate, as she delivered the good news that 69-year-old George Isbell Jr. was taken into custody in San Diego, California.

Isbell, who is facing federal charges of mailing a threatening communication, was described by the attorney general as a “coward hiding behind a keyboard” over the threats that came in the aftermath of the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, who was publicly murdered by a leftist at an event in Utah last month.

“Benny is a well-known media personality, carrying a message very similar to Charlie’s. Grounded largely in faith and love of country. Just days after Charlie’s assassination, Benny received a letter at his home where he and Kate are raising their beautiful, beautiful young family,” she said. “The author of this letter made it very clear that he hated Benny because of his views, and he wanted Benny dead.”

“This was a coward hiding behind a keyboard who thought he could get away with this. That’s why we’re standing up here today,” Bondi added. “You are not going to get away with threatening people in this way. And I’m proud to announce that we have arrested the author of this letter.”

“I want to thank President Trump, AG Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice for immediately acting and saving my family. We are forever grateful,” Johnson said in a post to X, sharing video of his remarks from the news conference at the US Attorney’s Office in Tampa.

“The individual who wrote me described why he wanted me dead: I was a white, cis, Christian Trump supporter,” Johnson said. “They described in great detail how I would be killed in an open field just like Charlie. How much blood would come out of my head and neck when it would come off.”

“This individual described orphaning my four children and widowing my beautiful wife with great joy,” he added.

“Left-wing violence is exploding with copycats appearing everywhere. It is the greatest threat to our country today, targeting people for simply speaking the truth,” Johnson wrote on X. “Let me be absolutely clear: We will not be silenced. We will not back down. We will not break. You lit a fire that cannot be put out.”

“Charlie Kirk taught us to go on offense. That is exactly what we will do. We will work harder, speak louder, and grow stronger,” Johnson wrote. “We will continue to move TPUSA’s mission forward. For Charlie.”

Kate Johnson called out California Governor Gavin Newsom, a spewer of the sort of rhetoric that inspires violent freaks like Isbell and Tyler Robinson, Kirk’s accused assassin.

“Hey @CAgovernor – the man who threatened to kill my husband, @bennyjohnson, and harm my 4 small children is a resident of your state. Are you going to disavow him?” Mrs. Johnson asked in a post to X. “Or is this ok with you @GavinNewsom?”

“We are going to catch you if you think you can do something like this,” Bondi vowed. “We don’t care if you’re across the country in California, we will find you. We will arrest you, we will extradite you, and we will bring you to justice. We cannot allow this political violence to continue any longer. This arrest will serve as a reminder to many — do not do this. We will find you.”
