Trump Wants His ‘Ukraine Impeachment’ Investigated

President Donald Trump has called on Congress and other relevant authorities to investigate what led to his first impeachment.

In a post on Truth Social Sunday, Trump specifically called for Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff to be investigated and said that a number of laws and protocols were violated relating to his impeachment.

“The Ukraine Impeachment (of me!) Scam was a far bigger Illegal Hoax than Watergate. I sincerely hope the necessary authorities, including CONGRESS, are looking into this! Adam ‘Schiffty’ Schiff was sooo dishonest and corrupt. So many laws, and protocols, were violated, and just plain broken!!! President DJT.” Trump said in his post.

This stems back to 2019, when Congress voted to impeach Trump during his first term over a scandal regarding a phone call Trump had with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The House of Representatives voted on two articles of impeachment accusing Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump was accused of asking Zelenskyy to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden in exchange for U.S. military aid. The House voted mainly along party lines on both charges, with zero Republicans voting in favor of either. Then Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard voted “present” on both charges. Democratic Maine Rep. Jared Golden voted in favor of article one — the abuse of power charge — and against article two, which was the obstruction of justice charge.
Trump was ultimately acquitted by the Senate on both articles of impeachment, with former Republican Utah Sen. Mitt Romney voting to convict Trump on the abuse of power charge.
