Authorities in Arizona released wild footage that shows a man and child being rescued Tuesday after getting trapped on top of a car surrounded by roaring floodwaters.
The incident took place in Eloy, which is southeast of Phoenix.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel rushed over to the scene around Battaglia Road and Highway 87 after it was reported that a man and his “baby” were stuck on the roof of a car during flash flooding. Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team members, Eloy Police and a K9 deputy provided assistance to the Casa Grande Fire Department during the rescue, per officials.
The man was driving past barricades prior to getting trapped in the flash flooding, according to the Eloy Police Department.

Authorities urged the public not to drive past barricades, as well as enter roadways and washes that were flooded.
Thunderstorms and rain have been blasting Arizona and the Southwest for days, resulting in flooding.
Strong storms rolled through the region Sunday and Monday, generating wind gusts over 60 mph, hail and heavy rainfall, according to the Phoenix office of the National Weather Service.
Tempe also experienced extreme weather in the form of a microburst, which displaced more than 130 people and caused at least 34,000 to lose power, per ABC News.
