The government’s account has spent £102,100 in the past 30 days and £291,000 since August on its Meta ads, which push posts advertising local defence spending to users. Other active ads are on immigration: “The government has returned over 35,000 illegal migrants since June 2024,” and “the government is securing borders.” The defence ones go: “Defence spending creates local career opportunities, bringing skills and opportunities into towns like yours”…
The advertising spend comes as Labour attempts to prove it is serious on small boats and boosting national security, both of which are in a bad way and constantly in the public eye.
