Damn, man … Saudi Arabia is really trying to take sports from us.
Officials from the Holiday Bowl took a flight to Saudi Arabia in the spring for a meeting with officials in the nation about potentially playing this season’s version of the game in the Middle East, according to a report from On3.
With that being said, athletic directors in the ACC talked about the idea and didn’t express any interest, per the report. The Holiday Bowl sees an ACC program square off against either a current or former Pac-12 team. (RELATED: UNC Football Was Seeking Fundraising In Saudi Arabia: REPORT)
“The athletic directors had conversations about it and decided they didn’t want to do it,” a source said to On3.
Another source stated to the outlet, “It was explored, there were a lot of pieces to the puzzle, but it ain’t happening.”
This season’s edition of the Holiday Bowl is Jan. 2 at 8:00 PM ET in San Diego.

Holy cow, our opposition is working overtime. We’ve got China coming from the left, Saudi Arabia coming from the right, and then we’ve got our own problems here domestically with lunatic leftists. Then on top of that, we still have to pay a friggin’ income tax!
And now things have gotten so bad that Saudi Arabia is trying to take college football away from us?! … UNACCEPTABLE!
