Law enforcement officials in Charlotte, North Carolina, proudly announced that violent crime is down, but as in other Democrat-run cities, the official numbers may not tell the full story.
This week, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department held a press conference where they discussed the city’s latest crime stats that show a drop in crime from last year, including fewer murders, aggravated assaults and robberies, which, according to data, is down by 20 percent.
“Today, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) released its third quarter public safety report for January through September 2025, showcasing a substantial decline in crime citywide. The data reveals a notable drop in overall crime, a decrease in violent offenses and continued progress in reducing property-related incidents,” the CMPD said in an October 15 press release.
Today, we will be sharing our 2025 Quarter 3 statistics, providing a deeper look into current crime trends, as well as the proactive measures we are taking to combat victimization and ensure the safety of the Charlotte community. “Through the first nine months of the year, overall crime has decreased 8% compared to this same time last year. Charlotte experienced a 20% reduction in violent crime, which includes homicides, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults which encompass shootings. Property crime, which includes residential and commercial burglary, auto theft and larceny, is down 5%,” the department states.
But amid the positivity, there is reason for alarm, with more than half of those arrested for violent crimes having prior arrests, including teens, with one example being an unnamed 15-year-old with an astounding 111 arrests since August 2023.

“We continue to see a troubling pattern: a disproportionate number of violent incidents and property crimes are being committed by individuals with extensive criminal histories—many of whom continue to cycle through the justice system without facing meaningful consequences. The cycle of catch and release does not reduce crime in our community,” Sergeant Todd Martin of the Southeast Service Area Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) said, according to a Wednesday CMPD post to X.
At the presser, Martin shared the disturbing search results from the youngster’s phone.
“The following were Google searches found on the juvenile’s cell phone: What is the charge for killing an officer? Is police murder a charge? What is capital murder?” Martin said during the press conference, according to Charlotte-based outlet WBTV.
“These are the things a 15-year-old in possession of multiple firearms was searching for,” he added. “Despite the juvenile’s delinquency history and repeat offender status, the juvenile was released back into the community in September.”
“If you have a 12, 13, 14, 15-year-old, and they’re not at home at night, they’re somewhere, that starts at home,” Deputy Chief Jackie Bryley said. “So I think part of what’s missing is these conversations that used to take place in our communities where these young people lay their heads at night somewhere.”
“You got to be a parent, right? That’s job one. CMPD can’t do it. The school system can’t do it. You have to take the responsibility of being a full-time parent,” City Councilman Malcolm Graham said.
Charlotte was also the scene of the heinous murder of a young Ukrainian refugee who fled her war-torn home country only to be slaughtered by a black thug on a light rail train in August.

It was a story that the media and local officials worked to cover up, but once it got out. It became a big issue for criminal-coddling Democrat politicians, their “woke” prosecutors and activist judges, like the one who put the vicious animal who cut 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska’s throat on the Lynx Blue Line back out on the streets before he murdered her. And are continuing to protect him.
“Data alone cannot capture the real impact crime has on victims and their families. While overall and violent crime have both declined significantly, if you are the victim of a crime or know someone who has been victimized, it can shape your perception of safety in Charlotte,” the CMPD said.
