Stephen A. Smith predicts this GOP dream ticket will STOMP Dems in 2028

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith predicted on Thursday that no Democrat could beat a 2028 ticket featuring Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Asked during his radio show whether any Democrat has a chance of beating a Vance/Rubio ticket, he replied, “The answer would be no one — not a damn soul.”

Smith then predicted that if Vance and Rubio were to duke it out in a primary, Rubio might very well win, making it a Rubio/Vance ticket.

“I got to be honest with you, if this Israel-Hamas deal comes out to be more positive than anything else, I don’t think anybody be able to compete with Marco Rubio who Trump called ‘maybe the greatest Secretary of State in American history,’” he said.

“Marco Rubio gets things done. He’s a former senator, now secretary of State and national security adviser. He is no joke. I put him above Vice President Vance, I can tell you that much,” he added.

According to Fox News, Smith continued by expressing his hope that someone like Democrat Sen. Jon Ossoff might run for president.

“Ossoff out of Georgia, I think that he — I like him,” Smith said. “I like how he sounds. I do.”

The ESPN host previously floated the idea of even he himself running for president.

“I hope somebody from the Democratic Party steps up,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity in April. “I hope I light a fire under them and get a more qualified individual in this mix, so people can stop asking me this stuff and I can enjoy my life.”

“But if it continues to get worse, all hands on deck, all of us should consider running, for crying out loud, rather than dealing with this nonsense,” he added.

During another Fox News segment that same month, he slammed the Democratic Party over the fact that he was being considered as a serious candidate for president.

“I think the fact that I am a candidate for the presidency, according to polling for the Democratic Party, is the most clear-cut evidence of how pathetic of a state of affairs that exists within the Democratic Party today,” he said.

The previous month in March, Smith called Democrats “nuts” for even considering him.

“Folks are nuts, number one,” he told late-night host Jimmy Fallon. “Number two, the Democrat Party, they lost. They had a bad few months. We all know this.”

“And even though there’s a lot of qualified Democrats all over the country from a local perspective — governors, mayors, stuff like that — there’s no real national voice. Enter moi. They’ve come to me,” he added.

He even tweeted about the prospect of running:

His latest remarks come after he stormed off a NewsNation town hall panel discussion this week after a young member of the audience, identified as Jack Criss Jr., described how the ongoing government shutdown has been affecting him.

“I’m an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration,” Criss began. “I’ve been there for 16 years. I’ve also been through the Obama shutdown and the Trump shutdown.”

“My question is, under the current political climate, do you think this shutdown could actually be longer than the previous shutdown? … I am actually driving DoorDash when I got off from work just to make sure I can pay for my daughter’s tuition,” he added.
