While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy split hairs over America’s position regarding Tomahawk missiles, President Donald Trump issued a clear statement about the status of the war.
“… it is time to stop the killing …”
For well over three and a half years, the war between Russia and Ukraine has carried on with estimates calculating deaths by the tens of thousands. So it was that after a bilateral meeting with Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday, Trump continued his track record of negotiating peace deals by calling on both sides to put the war to bed “and make a DEAL!”
Turning to Truth Social, the president stated, “The meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine was very interesting, and cordial, but I told him, as I likewise strongly suggested to President [Vladimir] Putin, that it is time to stop the killing, and make a DEAL!”
“Enough blood has been shed, with property lines being defined by War and Guts. They should stop where they are,” he continued. “Let both claim Victory, let History decide! No more shooting, no more Death, no more vast and unsustainable sums of money spent. This is a War that would have never started if I were President. Thousands of people being slaughtered each and every week — NO MORE, GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES IN PEACE!”
Before Zelenskyy attended the White House meeting, Trump had revealed after a phone call with Putin that he and his Russian counterpart would be meeting in Budapest, Hungary, following negotiations between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian officials.
Further, the commander-in-chief had indicated during the meeting that it remained his aim to resolve the war “without thinking about Tomahawks,” weeks after a United Nations meeting had found the Ukrainian leader asking for them.

Of course, even as the president made clear his position was to see an end to the violence, Zelenskyy returned to corporate media with a message that seemed geared toward stoking the conflict.
In an interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker set to air on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” he opined on Trump’s position on Tomahawk missiles by saying, “It’s good that President Trump didn’t say ‘no,’ but for today, didn’t say ‘yes.’”
Zelenskyy went on to add, “I think that Putin [is] afraid that United States will deliver us Tomahawks. And I think that he [is] really afraid that we will use [them].”
As it happened, during the meeting at the White House, Zelenskyy had been asked about specific concessions he’d be willing to make to end the war, given the many ways Trump had “stuck out his neck” toward reaching peace, with a specific mention of dropping the push to enter NATO.
Rather than provide an answer on concessions, the Ukrainian leader expressed the need for meetings and a ceasefire.
Reporter asks Zelenskyy what concessions he’s willing to make to broker peace, and Zelenskyy has no answer.
Because he’s not willing to make concessions. Because he’s been artificially boosted and overinflated in this war by America and the rest of Europe. pic.twitter.com/VeSo6SNmmG
