Active Shooter Reported At Oklahoma State University

A gunman reportedly opened fire Sunday at a dormitory on the campus of Oklahoma State University (OSU), multiple outlets reported.

Three people were wounded in the incident, which took place at roughly 3:40 a.m. Central Time, the Oklahoma State University Police stated in an X post. The university claimed there was “no ongoing threat” in a Sunday statement. (RELATED: Don Lemon Wants ‘Black People, Brown People’ To Buy Guns For Use Against ICE)

“At approximately 3:40 a.m., the OSU Police Department responded to Carreker East residential hall after shooting victims arrived at off-campus locations and reported the incident,” the university said in the statement. “According to OSU Chief of Police Michael Beckner, there were multiple victims, one of which is known to be an OSU student. All are being treated at hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.”

“OSU law enforcement is on scene and investigating. They ask everyone who does not live in Carreker East to avoid the area,” the statement continued. “There is no ongoing threat to campus. Initial reports indicate a large, private party occurred at an off-campus location. After the gathering disbanded, some attendees returned to Carreker East where the shooting occurred.”

The shooting took place during Oklahoma State University’s homecoming weekend, KOCO-TV reported.

Oklahoma State University Police did not release any information on the identity of the suspect or a motive for the shooting.
