‘What The Heck Is Making Them All Jump?’: Wild Monkeys Fly Into Water At Florida State Park In Crazy Scene

A woman’s TikTok video is going viral after she posted footage that’s leaving many people like, “Wait, there’s monkeys in Florida?”

During a recent trip to the Sunshine State, while visiting Silver Springs State Park in Ocala, she was paddling in a kayak when all of a sudden wild monkeys started jumping all over the place into the water.

“They’re jumping in,” said TikTok user @fireball_1969. “Look at them all. These are all monkeys jumping in. It’s raining monkeys.”

During the scene, one monkey even landed close to her kayak.

“What the heck is making them all jump?” said the woman.

The area of Silver Springs State Park has hundreds of rhesus macaques, which are a non-native species of monkey that were transported to Florida for a jungle-themed river attraction in the 1930s. Eventually, the monkeys became a wild colony, with the animals prospering in the subtropical forests of the state.

According to experts per BroBible, rhesus macaques are excellent swimmers, and on occasion, go across the Silver River to search for food or get away from humans.

With that being said, huge crossings are rare, and normally triggered by some kind of stress such as crowds and loud noises.
