Deng Chol Majek has been found guilty of the murder of hotel worker Rhiannon Skye Whyte, who was stabbed 23 times with a screwdriver in October last year. Majek, an asylum seeker from Sudan, arrived in the UK in July 2024. He denied being “responsible for that fatal assault” through an interpreter.
Rhiannon’s sister Alex Whyte said:
“Rhiannon had such a quirky personality. You would hear her before you’d see her. No matter what her day had been, she always wanted to make everyone else around her happy. She always prioritised family. That was the most important thing to Rhiannon. Obviously, she has a brother and three sisters. And my mum, who was her best friend.”
The jury’s conviction was unanimous.
