Woman gets reality checked when she blames Trump for failing business: ‘People still have hair’

The economy has been a bummer for millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet, but it takes a special kind of person to blame the election for their struggling business.

Caleb Hammer is a YouTuber and podcaster who levels with people about their financial situations. His show is best known for his over-the-top reactions as well as dry humor, but overall it is a great resource for people looking to be more wise with their income and investments.

One woman came in search of a reality check and got exactly what she needed:

“So I am actually kind of in debt because of the past election,” the guest said, visibly surprising Hammer.

“Wait-” he said.

“I know it’s kind of crazy,” the hairstylist chuckles.

“Well, at least you acknowledge it. What the f**k do you possibly mean? I don’t know anything that happened the day of election or inauguration that was like all of the sudden, ‘here’s a loan from the federal government please, have it,’” he responded.

She goes on to explain how she and her construction worker boyfriend have been impacted by the economic downturn and inflation, as their clients aren’t willing to spend more money than they have to on their non-essential services.

“We’re on the same trajectory and trend that we have been in terms of jobs numbers added on a monthly basis,” Hammer points out. “If we would be almost in a very similar economic thing that we’re in right now if Kamala was president as well. Would you be saying the exact same thing, that because of the last election, you lost money?”

“Probably,” the woman admits.

“So you blame everyone but yourself?” Hammer asked. “You can blame economic conditions, I bet less people do home renovations when things aren’t as juicy. People borrow for renovations, interest rates are still high, even though they’ve come down a little. Even still, people are less likely to invest in renovating a house when rates are high.”

“I have looked at potentially moving out of the country. It’s just never feasible,” the woman stated.

“What does that make sense for? In what way?” the host asked, becoming exasperated.

“It’s gotta be better somewhere else,” she said. “It has to be better anywhere else.”

“Anywhere else? So you’ll be moving to Sub-Saharan Africa?” he asked, pointing out the absurdity of her argument.

“No, probably not. It’s too hot,” she chuckled, as Hammer pointed out that she did, in fact, say “anywhere.”

“Where’s better for you, a salon owner, a business owner?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t actually looked that far,” the lady admits.

“I’ll tell you an economy that’s doing pretty well in Europe, I’m sure you like Europe. Poland! Poland’s increasing very well. But you know what would happen if you employed other people in the salon?” Hammer probed. “If you wanna fire them, oftentimes, depending on what kind of contract you’re on, if you want to fire them you still have to actually keep them on for about a month, two months, depending on time.”

“Well, luckily, my boyfriend doesn’t agree with that plan,” the lady says.

Later in the episode, Hammer tells you how ridiculous it is to blame her woes specifically on Trump as opposed to “objective information.”

“It’s the thing that makes… it puts it all together,” she said.

“It’s cope,” Hammer replies bluntly.

“What about you and your business? You said you’re not doing well,” he asked later. “And that’s the last election?”

“Yes, it’s gotten much worse.”

“Okay, people still have hair,” he says, as she brings up the soaring price of groceries.
