Multiple Tornadoes Tear Through American South, Violent System To Contribute To Halloween East Coast Storm

A tornado in southern Mississippi was confirmed Sunday by the National Weather Service as severe thunderstorms rolled across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama during the morning hours.

At 9:20 a.m. local time, a tornado warning was issued around Pascagoula, Mississippi, and around five minutes later, a tornado was reported by emergency managers, per The Weather Channel. The twister touched down close to two miles from Gautier, with homes and businesses suffering damage. Video of the tornado shows the Aztecas Restaurant & Cantina roof being damaged, as well as multiple vehicles that were in the parking lot.

That wasn’t the only tornado caught on camera Sunday morning, however, as a rain-wrapped twister was seen around Orange Beach, Alabama.

Another tornado was seen on video in Moss Point, Mississippi, as the twister was caught on a live traffic camera, which you can see here.

The violent system that resulted in the tornadoes along the Gulf Coast, as well as power outages in parts of Texas, will actually be the first round of rain across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic that will be a part of a Halloween storm on the East Coast, per FOX Weather.

There’s consensus from the Euro and GFS models showing rain from the Carolinas to the Northeast both Thursday and Friday, though it’s still too early to forecast the exact impacts.
