Labour’s shambolic Digital ID scheme has no projected costings. In fact, the government has no details at all on how it will work…
The Department of Science has had the brief, which it held for the blink of an eye, taken off it by the Cabinet Office last week. That’s despite the fact that Digital ID’s key campaigner Kirsty Innes was hired to DSIT as a SpAd. You could have guessed the Cabinet Office would take it seeing as Darren Jones is the only minister promoting the scheme…
Guido’s FOI Unit asked DSIT for any of its projected or forecast costs for the scheme. You’ll never guess, they have none…
DSIT said there is still no plan:
“No decisions have been made on the technical design and delivery of the new digital ID. The government will be launching a public consultation on the build, costs and delivery of the programme later this year.”
It’s almost like the announcement was hurried out by Starmer to distract from a scandal that’s been replaced by about six new ones already…
