Starmer’s spokesman repeatedly dodged questions on the Winter Budget after Starmer refused to stand by his manifesto promise not to raise Income Tax, VAT or National Insurance. Now Labour is insisting that the economy was actually left in a worse state by the Tories than they had originally thought. New spin just dropped…
Speaking at the post-PMQs huddle, Labour’s spokesman said:
“The inheritance that we received from the previous government was even worse than we all previously thought. [Due to] the disastrous austerity approach, botched Brexit deal and Truss’ borrowing binge. There will be no return to austerity at the next budget.”
This, despite Starmer and Reeves endlessly claiming they’ve got the economy under control. So have they actually stabilised it or not?
