UK Police Arrest Suspect After Mass Stabbing On Train

British authorities arrested two men following a knife attack on a passenger train that left 10 people injured, with two fighting for their lives.

The attack unfolded Saturday evening on a London North Eastern Railway train traveling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. Police received emergency calls shortly before 7:30 p.m. after the train departed Peterborough, British outlet The Sun reported. Officers stopped the train at Huntingdon station, about 22 miles down the line.

The video captured by taxi driver Viorel Turturica shows armed officers wrestling a suspect to the ground on the platform. The 42-year-old witness said the man, dressed entirely in black and carrying a large kitchen knife, ran past his car while shouting “kill me, kill me, kill me” at police.

“They then taser him and as soon as he is down they say to him ‘drop your weapon,’ that’s when I started recording,” Turturica told The Sun.

British Transport Police Superintendent John Loveless said Sunday that two British-born men, ages 32 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. (RELATED: Bystanders Tried To Help Charlotte Stabbing Victim In Her Dying Moments)

Both remain in separate police stations for questioning. Four injured passengers have been discharged from hospitals.

Witness Olly Foster told the BBC he heard passengers yelling “run, run, there’s a guy literally stabbing everyone.” He said an older man blocked an attacker from stabbing a young girl, suffering head and neck injuries in the process.

Counter-terrorism police are assisting with the investigation. Defence Secretary John Healey called the incident an “isolated attack.” Prime Minister Keir Starmer described it as “deeply concerning.”

More than 30 armed officers responded to the scene.
