Woman Flies To US And Is Murdered…Allegedly By Man She Paid To Kill Her

Florida investigators say a woman who traveled from overseas to meet a man she had been speaking with online for two years ended up being killed by the very person she allegedly paid to take her life.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Dwain Hall on Monday, charging the 53-year-old with first-degree murder and kidnapping after investigators identified the remains of 32-year-old Sonia Exelby, a missing U.K. woman, in Marion County. Agents said Hall was already in custody on fraud-related offenses tied to Exelby’s credit card when they filed the additional charges.

Newly released documents detail how FDLE agents reconstructed the movements of Exelby, KGNS News reported. Investigators found her body in a wooded area after discovering multiple failed charges on her bank card allegedly tied to Solvers Wolf’s Roadside Assistance, a one-man company operated by Hall.

Hall initially told agents that Exelby simply needed roadside help, but her payment didn’t process, so he never responded, according to Eyewitness News This Morning. His story unraveled almost immediately, and he later admitted he had maintained an online relationship with Exelby for nearly two years, during which they discussed bondage, suicide and her stated desire to have someone kill her. FDLE agents searched Exelby’s Airbnb and found Walmart receipts dated Oct. 10 in the trash. The receipts—paid for with Hall’s card—show purchases of a rope, gun cleaner and a shovel. Investigators say Hall bought the items shortly before he picked Exelby up from the Gainesville airport.

Hall told investigators that Exelby agreed to bring him $4,000 in cash and she allegedly gave him $1,200 instead, angering him. FDLE recovered video from Hall’s phone that allegedly showed Exelby with bruises and abrasions across her face and neck as she cried. In the footage, Hall was heard asking how she wanted to die. After hesitating, she reportedly answered, “to be stabbed.”

Authorities also uncovered messages Exelby is believed to have sent to a friend through a gaming app, alleging that Hall was controlling her and that she was scared, according to FDLE. Hall’s phone data ultimately led investigators to the remote area where they found her body, turning the woods of Marion County into a crime scene and ending a disturbing trail of digital messages, online fantasies and physical evidence.

FDLE has not yet released additional details about Hall’s charges.
