Republican strategist Scott Jennings explained Thursday why six House Democrats filmed a video urging members of the U.S. military to ignore potential orders from President Donald Trump.
Democratic Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin posted a video to X on Tuesday urging service members and intelligence personnel to “refuse illegal orders,” a message she delivered alongside five congressional colleagues who also boast military or intelligence backgrounds. During a panel discussion on “The Arena,” Jennings said the six Democrats knew exactly what they were doing, which was feeding red meat to the far-left base.
“And in my opinion, they are simply making videos that are outrageous and pushing the envelope to satisfy a radical base that demands their Democratic leaders to do things like that these days,” Jennings said.
Jennings dismissed the idea that any of the six Democrats would face arrest.

Jennings said the White House already made its position clear.
“And I can only point you back to what the president’s direct representative, Karoline Leavitt, said today when she was directly asked about this. She said, no, that’s not what the president was saying. And so I wholeheartedly agree with you that we all have a responsibility to denounce political violence. As far as I know, there hasn’t been any political violence today,” Jennings added.
“And you have the White House press secretary [Karoline Leavitt] saying there should not be any political violence and no one should take it that way. So I think what Karoline did today was actually quite important when she answered a direct question about it.”
Leavitt pushed back Thursday after reporters pressed her about President Donald Trump saying the Democrats who urged the military to defy him committed crimes “punishable by death.” She defended Trump’s position and blasted the six lawmakers, accusing them of conspiring to encourage service members to ignore orders and endanger themselves.
“You have sitting members of the United States Congress, who conspired together to orchestrate a video message to members of the United States military, to active duty service members, to members of the national security apparatus, encouraging them to defy the president’s lawful orders. The sanctity of our military rests on the chain of command, and if that chain of command is broken, it can lead to people getting killed. That’s what these members of Congress, who swore an oath to abide by the Constitution, are essentially encouraging,” Leavitt said.
The lawmakers released a message accusing Trump of wanting them executed simply for affirming their constitutional oath. They argued that reiterating the limits on presidential authority should never be treated as a capital offense and insisted they were standing up for service members who must follow only lawful commands.
