Florida, we’ve got a problem. A massive one.
In Rotonda West, a Charlotte County resident came across a massive Burmese python measuring around 12 feet long Tuesday night. The enormous snake was sprawled halfway across Medalist Drive when it was spotted.
Local resident Wade Gardner recounted his startling encounter to WINK News.
“They would never believe me if I just sent them a picture of it, they would want to know where I got the picture of the snake from,” Gardner said. (RELATED: ‘Idiot’ Taunts Yellowstone Wolfpack Who Respond By Chasing Him Down In Pure Nightmare Fuel Video)
Rob Howell, a naturalist, explained the growing prevalence of these invasive Burmese pythons in the region.
“These animals can get pushing 15 average. Average is, you know, six to eight and then eight to 10 is pretty large,” per WINK News.
Howell noted that these snakes are steadily moving northward from the Everglades as they follow available food sources.
“They’re going to keep moving north as food sources dwindle where they’re at because they’re eating everything,” per the outlet.

Cape Coral, which is in Southwest Florida, has become a consistent vacation spot for my family. Being two and a half hours away from the Everglades, I was shocked to see Burmese pythons an hour and a half over the city in Rotonda West.
Here’s a few snapshots of the snake:
I’m not going to Google Maps my location, but I live around three and a half hours north of where this Burmese python was spotted, and obviously still being in Florida, it stays warm year around where these snakes can thrive … yeah, I’m a bit concerned for our wildlife.
At the same time, as a nature enthusiast, it would be one hell of a climate to live in being surrounded by these guys. Imagine the content.
