The number of job vacancies have plummeted to the lowest levels since 2021, according to jobs site Adzuna. There were only 796,385 vacancies in October. That’s a 7% slump compared to a year ago and the biggest drop month-on-month so far this year…
There are also 2.21 jobseekers per role, the highest rate in four years. Adzuna’s co-founder Andrew Hunter said firms were “approaching hiring with greater caution and deliberation, particularly ahead of the autumn Budget at the end of November”. Meanwhile, Confederation of British Industry boss Rain Newton-Smith will use her conference speech this morning to hammer Reeves’ business-bashing policies and demand she avoid “death by a thousand taxes.” Might be a bit late for that…
