Kevin Spacey accused The Telegraph of clickbait, claiming they twisted his words in a recent interview to make it seem like he was homeless.
The disgraced actor posted a video Sunday on his official Instagram page telling fans he felt the need to set the record straight on reports claiming he no longer had a home to call his own. He asserted that his Nov. 19 interview with the publication was handled properly by the journalist, but that the outlet twisted his story for clicks.
“I don’t usually make it my business to correct media — if I did, I wouldn’t have time for much else,” Spacey said.
“But in light of the recent articles claiming I am homeless, I feel the need to respond — not to the press, but to the thousands of people who have reached out over the past few days offering me a place to stay or have just asked if I’m okay,” he continued.
Spacey went on to thank those who offered support or a lending hand after reading the report and believing he was in dire need of assistance.
“I feel it would be disingenuous of me to allow you to believe that I am indeed homeless in the colloquial sense,” he said.
“In my conversation with Mick Brown — the wonderful journalist who wrote the story that was in the Telegraph where this rumor first began — I said I was basically living in hotels and Airbnbs and going where the work is, just as I did when I first started out in this business,” Spacey clarified.
The actor described his busy schedule, noting he has been “working nearly nonstop this entire year.” (RELATED: Kevin Spacey Admits He’s Homeless In Aftermath Of Sexual Assault Scandal)
“There are many people, as we all know, who are indeed actually living on the streets, or in their cars, or in terrible financial situations, and my heart goes out to them,” Spacey said.

He asserted, “But it is clear from the article itself that I am not one of them, nor was I attempting to say that I was.”
He pointed a finger at the publication and accused them of undermining the journalist who conducted the interview.
“It was a shame that The Telegraph chose to undermine the work of their own journalist by selling him out with a knowingly misleading headline for the sake of clicks,” he said.
The star’s initial interview with The Telegraph quoted him as saying, “I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”

The actor incurred mounting legal fees to defend himself against allegations of sexual misconduct.
