Kyrsten Sinema has returned, this time as a MAHA champion and psychedelics lobbyist.
A one-time senator who ditched the Democratic Party and became an independent, Sinema constantly drew the ire of left-wing progressives. She bucked her party on numerous occasions during former President Joe Biden’s administration, was an active member of several bipartisan coalitions, friends with Mitt Romney, and even earned the praise of Mitch McConnell. In 2021, she was harassed by protesters in a bathroom over her opposition to Biden’s Build Back Better bill. (Subscribe to MR. RIGHT, a free weekly newsletter about modern masculinity)
Suffice it to say, she was not a fan of the progressive left, and her new interview with Politico, published Sunday, will likely draw some renewed backlash. Sinema currently works at the white shoe law firm and lobbying shop Hogan Lovells, and she has grown fond of one psychedelic in particular, which makes her feel “sharp.”

For starters, she seems fully committed to the MAHA movement and even questioned why some of her (presumably Democratic) colleagues are so hostile toward it. She has also begun to use the psychedelic Ibogaine, which she hopes will one day be approved by the FDA for medicinal and mental health purposes.
“It’s interesting, because I’ve seen some of my former colleagues really push back hard against his MAHA movement. MAHA is amazing. Do we want food with fewer chemicals in it? Yeah. Do we want to know where our food came from? Yeah. Do we want to get rid of toxic dyes in our food? Yeah. How is this controversial?” she told the outlet.
Sinema also said that she is “close” with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., whom she describes as a “disruptor,” and that they are currently discussing psychedelics as medicinal treatments. She’s optimistic that progress will be made on that front.

The former senator accidentally offered a path forward for Democrats who constantly complain that American democracy is under assault, while failing to reach across the aisle with their congressional colleagues and achieve something that could actually benefit their voters. She refrained from calling the Trump administration fascist or authoritarian; rather, she used the word “disruptive.”
“In Trump 1.0, he didn’t think he was going to win. When he did win, he gathered all the people around him and they were all normies. He hired all these normal people who’d been in government for a long time and he hated them. So they — pow, pow, pow, pow — dropped like flies. This time, he knew he was going to win and intentionally built a cabinet of disruptors. There are lots of feelings about that all across the country. But disruption brings opportunity,” she said.
Sinema went on to say, “Whether you’re delighted with this administration or whether you’re horrified by this administration, I’m going to leave all of that to the side, and just say, ‘Here’s an opportunity. You leave it or you take it. Let’s go.’”
