Maduro Is a Mustachioed Turkey With Bird Flu (and Deserves No Pardon) | The American Spectator

Trump has finally pardoned his turkeys — and the ones Joe Biden had wrongly pardoned — and that has given us freedom lovers some peace of mind, because none of them goes by the name “Nicolás Maduro.” The worst thing that can happen to a totalitarian regime is to become laughable, and Maduro’s latest spectacle shouting “no war” and “yes peace” is, in my view, reason enough to bomb Miraflores for at least a full week — if not with actual bombs, then at least with heavy books, because nothing terrifies a Chavista more than a thick book. There’s always something magical and brilliant about Trump. Maybe it’s his sense of humor. While the whole world waits for an official statement on possible actions regarding Venezuela; while Maduro confesses he hasn’t slept in days due to the tension, awaiting the United States’ decision; and while Trump puts a price on his head — suddenly the president appears before the media to joke about a turkey too beautiful to kill, a turkey he even pets several times, showing not the slightest fear, by the way, of the avian flu that has led Europe — thanks to the genius political class in Brussels — to impose mandatory mass confinement of hens. The hens, in response, have gone on strike from laying eggs. And now we Europeans are paying prices for eggs that make them feel like golden eggs. We are experiencing, if you’ll pardon the expression, the coronavirus of eggs. I’d bet anything that these idiots who govern us will end up making masks mandatory for chickens. (RELATED: Maduro and American Mixed-Messaging)

Of all the immigrants I’ve met in Europe, the ones most eager to return to their homeland — once it’s free — are Venezuelans and Cubans. As for Argentinians, most have already gone back now that Kirchner’s allies are in power in Spain and Javier Milei has money flowing again in Argentina. But among Venezuelan exiles, not a single one wants to know anything about what’s happening in Venezuela. They prefer not to know. The only virtue (for its diabolical purposes) of Maduro’s useless regime has been its persistence. It has always managed to cling to power illegally, and it would be worth considering what international support it has enjoyed — because it is precisely the support that the opposition has never had. That has created a collective depression among the opposition, who dream of peace but want nothing to do with it. They only want someone to notify them on the day there is truly important news: the day Maduro dies or resigns.

Other regimes have also committed atrocious crimes. But Maduro has done something worse: he has managed to make people lose hope.

This should make Trump think. Other regimes have also committed atrocious crimes. But Maduro has done something worse: he has managed to make people lose hope. I have often wondered why Venezuelans believe Maduro will never fall. Besides the passage of time, which is crucial, there’s another factor we don’t talk about enough: all the real support Maduro’s regime receives adds up to enormous military and economic power, while all the real support the free West has given Venezuela’s opposition barely adds up to an endless mountain of empty rhetoric. And support hasn’t always gone to the most suitable and reliable opposition candidates. (RELATED: The Soros Footprint in Latin America)

To put it more plainly: Maduro doesn’t exist. Maduro is irrelevant. Maduro is a mustachioed blob of fat that science will one day study for containing the highest concentration of sawdust ever found inside a human head. Maduro is Russia, which provides him with tanks and defense systems and acts as his lender of honor. Maduro is China, Venezuela’s biggest international creditor and one of its main oil buyers. And Maduro is Iran, the country that has provided what was needed to neutralize the sanctions. (RELATED: Technology Sharing Powers the Axis of Evil)

To a lesser extent, Maduro is Pedro Sánchez (sorry, I will never say that Maduro is Spain, because he isn’t), who entrusted himself to Delcy Rodríguez in 2020 and to the money the regime denies to Venezuelans. As the judicial investigation moves forward, we’re learning that the key businessman involved in the scheme has claimed that Delcy arrived in Madrid with dozens of suitcases full of cash (in the best-case scenario) to fund Sánchez’s party and his idiotic Socialist International. (RELATED: Spain’s Far‑Left Dictatorship Has Become a Reality)

Maduro has no money for Venezuelans, but he can be very generous with others whenever he needs to build alliances. He lives like no one else. The wealthy offspring of the Chavista elite close down Madrid’s luxury nightclubs every night, paying with the largest wads of cash I’ve ever seen — except perhaps for those handled by Mohammed VI’s entourage when he goes on vacation.

Russia, China, and Iran — the axis of evil of the postmodern world — want Maduro’s dictatorship alive in Venezuela. Perhaps it’s not such a bad idea to take that toy out of the communists’ hands and liberate the Venezuelan people once and for all. After all, Maduro is a turkey — not a handsome one like the turkey Trump pardoned, but a gray, loudmouthed, mustachioed one, and almost certainly infected with bird flu. The least Trump should do with this turkey is confine him the way Brussels has confined millions of European chickens.

From Miami, Jaime Bayly argues that toppling the entire Venezuelan regime is very complicated, but arresting Maduro is very simple. Agreed. So let’s start from the beginning. Maduro must be removed from Miraflores the way Bin Laden was removed in Abbottabad. Let’s go piece by piece… as Freddy Krueger would say.

Happy Thanksgiving — and long live a free Venezuela!
