An ashen-faced OBR Chair Richard Hughes has apologised for the shambolic leak of the Budget. At the time of going to pixel, he is still droning on about the OBR’s forecast which everyone pored through nearly two hours ago. On the leak, he said:
“Let me start with an apology. A link to our economic and fiscal outlook document went live on our website too early this morning and was subsequently removed. We apologise to the chancellor, members of parliament for this technical error and have initiated an investigation into how this happened. It’ll be reporting to our oversight board, the Treasury, and the Common Treasury Committee on how this happened and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
More than a little embarrassing…
