As MTG Approaches Her Departure, Here’s A Look Back At Her Fiery Battles With Democrats

Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who plans to step down on Jan. 5, has repeatedly clashed with Democrats in Congress since joining in 2021.

Greene announced her upcoming resignation on Nov. 21 and expressed frustrations with both parties after President Donald Trump withdrew his support for her on Nov. 14. During Greene’s tenure, she has sparred with Democratic colleagues in heated hearings. (RELATED: Marjorie Taylor Greene Appears To Troll Biden With Prop Chinese Balloon Ahead Of SOTU)

1. Marjorie Taylor Greene Roasts Eric Swalwell To His Face For Alleged ‘Sexual Relationship’ With Suspected Chinese Spy

WATCH:

During an April 19, 2023, House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Greene alleged that Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell “had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy and everyone knows it.”

Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman interrupted Greene’s remarks, demanding her comment be removed from the record. She was also asked to retract her comment, but denied the request.

Former Republican Tennessee Rep. Mark Green, who chaired the committee, also declined to strike it. Committee Republicans blocked Democrats’ effort to appeal the ruling.

2. ‘Don’t Tell Me To Calm Down!’: GOP Oversight Committee Hearing Turns Into Absolute Chaos

WATCH:

Moreover, a House Oversight Committee hearing on May 17, 2024, devolved into chaos between a handful of Republican and Democratic representatives who argued over insults, particularly Greene, Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” Greene told Crockett during the hearing.

Members erupted, with some disagreeing with Greene’s comment, as Chairman James Comer called for order in the room. Ocasio-Cortez jumped in to say she had a point of order and wanted to strike down Greene’s insult of Crockett.

“That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person! Move her words down!” Ocasio-Cortez shouted.

Greene asked if her insult had hurt Ocasio-Cortez’s feelings.

“Oh girl, baby girl. Don’t even play with me. We are going to move and we are going to take your words down,” Ocasio-Cortez responded.

Greene said she would not apologize and asked Ocasio-Cortez why she would not debate her.

“I think it’s pretty self-evident,” Ocasio-Cortez replied.

“Yea, you don’t have enough intelligence,” Greene retorted before the members erupted again.

Comer eventually called for a vote to table Ocasio-Cortez’s motion against Greene, enabling the Georgia representative to reclaim her time.

“I’m just curious to better understand your ruling. If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” Crockett asked.

3. ‘He Belongs In Prison!’: Hearing Goes Off Rails When MTG Refuses To Call Fauci ‘Doctor’

WATCH:

Furthermore, a June 3, 2024, hearing became contentious when Greene refused to call Dr. Anthony Fauci a doctor, instead referring to him as “mister.” She asserted Fauci did not deserve the title and that he should be in prison.

Democratic Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin objected to Greene not calling Fauci a doctor.

“In terms of the rules of decorum, are we allowed to deny that a doctor is a doctor just because we don’t want him to be a doctor?” Raskin asked.

“Yes, because in my time, that man does not deserve to have a license. As a matter of fact, it should be revoked and he belongs in prison,” Greene replied.

Greene was eventually directed to call Fauci by his title.

“You belong in prison, Dr. Fauci,” she said.
