In not-exactly-stunning news, Lane Kiffin is headed to Baton Rouge to become LSU’s next head coach, and as a result, Oxford is about to undergo some serious changes.
The majority of the changes have been — and will continue to be — widely welcomed in Oxford.
It appears defensive coordinator Pete Golding is set to step up as Ole Miss’s new skipper, and based on leaked audio from Sunday’s team meeting, the players couldn’t be more pumped about it.

Not everything has been smooth sailing for Rebels fans, however.
Kiffin isn’t leaving alone — he’s also poaching offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. and his brother (and defensive analyst) Chris Kiffin to join him at LSU.
While the staff exodus definitely stings, credit has to go to Ole Miss leadership for moving fast and stopping the bleeding as much as anyone realistically could. (RELATED: If College Football Wasn’t Already Dead, Lane Kiffin Just Killed It)
You can’t say the same about the program’s 2026 recruiting class, though.
The bleeding started Sunday afternoon when four-star safety Trae Collins became the first domino to fall, officially decommitting from Ole Miss.

Four-star wide receiver Corey Barber followed suit less than two hours after the fact, also pulling his pledge from the Rebels.

Considering how Ole Miss isn’t known to pull in the sexiest of prospects, having two four-star recruits just drop like flies like that … ouch.
