A council in the constituency of Labour Party Chair Anna Turley is whipping out the begging bowl. Redcar and Cleveland council is preparing to plead for a £15 million rescue package to keep next year’s books balanced, blaming “sustained and significant budgetary pressures”. At the same time, they’re set to whack residents with yet another tax hike by 4.99% next year…
The bailout may not be confirmed until February. Turley has long demanded the scrapping of the two-child benefit cap – now her own patch is demanding extra cash while partly blaming spiralling costs in children’s social care. They’ve blown through the money and they’re back for more…
